🌿 Established 1995. Still unlike anything else on 30A.

Rosemary Beach is one of those places that stops people mid-sentence. You turn off 30A, the cobblestone streets appear, the gas lanterns are glowing, and the architecture — dark trim, steep rooflines, wraparound balconies — looks like it was lifted from the French Quarter and set down right here on the Gulf Coast. Because in many ways, it was.

Founded in 1995 by Patrick Bienvenue, Rosemary Beach was designed by Andrés Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk — the same planning firm behind Seaside — and built on principles of New Urbanism: walkable streets, a connected community, shops and restaurants within reach on foot or by bike. The architecture drew its inspiration from the colonial Caribbean, the Dutch West Indies, and New Orleans. Thirty years later, it still feels more intentional than anything built around it.

The town is 105 acres. There are boardwalks that connect the neighborhoods to the Gulf. There's a town center with restaurants, boutiques, and a Trading Company that's become a community anchor. The Barrett Square green hosts events year-round. And the Hotel Viridian — that striking white building with the clock tower you've seen in every Rosemary Beach photo — stands at the center of it all, lit up at dusk in a way that never gets old.

It's the kind of place where people come for a long weekend and start running the numbers by Sunday afternoon.

Our friends and local public safety partners at the Florida Forest Service - Chipola Forestry Center will host Trailfest 2026 for Operation Outdoor Freedom on September 12, 2026.

This race event takes place annually in Point Washington State Forest and directly contributes to helping and honoring wounded veterans.

A true icon who touched lives everywhere, including right here on the Emerald Coast. 🕊️✨

As we remember Dolly Parton following her passing, this throwback photo from the Bay County Historical Society is such a special reminder of her deep roots and lasting legacy in our region. From her early days performing at Jungle Land on Panama City Beach in the 1970s to her incredible philanthropic work like the Imagination Library, Dolly brought so much joy, generosity, and light to our community and the world.

Rest in peace, Dolly. You will always be loved. ❤️🎶

This photo of Dolly Parton was taken at Jungle Land on Panama City Beach around 1970 when she was a costar on the Porter Wagoner Show. She would go on to become a major influence in popular music. She also became a very successful business woman with impact nationally and locally. Dolly Parton gained international acclaim for her generosity. Imagination Library — Parton’s signature program, founded in 1995, mailed millions of free books to children worldwide. The Library of Congress called her a “titan of children’s literacy.” At the time of her death,, Dolly Parton was celebrated not only as a cultural icon but as one of America’s most influential philanthropists — a figure whose generosity reshaped literacy, disaster relief, and public health across the South.
