🌅 **There's Something Special About Our Coastal Dune Lakes!**
October is **Coastal Dune Lake Awareness Month**, and if you've spent much time exploring 30A, you've probably encountered one of these incredible natural treasures—perhaps without realizing just how rare they are!
South Walton has 15 coastal dune lakes scattered along approximately 26 miles of coastline. These beautiful bodies of water are nestled among the dunes, coastal forests, and beach communities we love.
**🌊 Here's something fascinating:**
Coastal dune lakes can periodically open to the Gulf of Mexico through natural channels called *outfalls*. Watching one of these connections form is an amazing reminder of how dynamic our coastline really is!
From Western Lake at Grayton Beach to Eastern Lake in Seagrove and Oyster Lake in Dune Allen, each has its own personality.
