What we accomplished, and what we gave back to our community this membership year. Proud to be the Finance VP and help our fundraising committees. We had our first 5k, Strides for Sarasota, led by Natalie Croston. We had our great Tour of Homes, led by Cindy Kelly, which grew from previous years. Our Fund Development committee led by Alyssa Scherer thought out of the box, and we tried new things and partnerships to raise money from new and old supporters. Merchandise added new items to our shop. And I was grateful to our Legacy Project, led by Brinda Pola and Jen Masters, and our Legacy Luncheon, led by Cindy Kaiser, for joining our council and their deep wealth of knowledge and contribution. It was great for all of us to work as a collaborative team. Looking forward to our 70th Anniversary year!

What's your ideal home? Do you love Lakewood Ranch, and all the amenities, but wish you could buy new by the beach? My favorite new community is SeaFlower in West Bradenton. New homes, some with water views. A collection of builders, so no cookie cutter community here. A community lawn, great amenities, its own Publix and shopping center, the list goes on. Lots of new folks on the page. Many are asking to post my hurricane rules again. So, here they are. #7

Important Tropics Reminder: If you haven't been through a tropical storm, or haven't in a while, here are a few reminders.

1. Storm track errors past 3 days can be HUGE. Don't get caught up in forecasts that far out. You'll go crazy.
2. Models flip-flop back and forth all the time. Look for trends, don't look at individual model runs
3. If you didn't prepare in June (which you probably didn't), do so now. Check your hurricane kit and guide to see what YOU and your family need.
4. Don't freak out.
5. Don't freak out. Ok? We live in Florida. It goes with the territory. The odds of a storm affecting us directly is usually low.
6. If things get bad, KNOW that we will be there with you 24-7. You're going to hear a ton of information. It can get confusing. Stick with us. We won't steer you wrong.
7. Stop freaking out....until I tell you to. We're fine
