I just completed my annual HOA cost survey where I compile the average monthly HOA rate for the most active downtown condominium complexes and rank them and I thought you would find it interesting. The range is pretty dramatic with over a 2/1 spread between the highest and lowest cost HOA's. Where did your favorite building rank? The full report is linked below:

Many condo owners are unsure what surrounding buildings charge and find having this data provides an interesting frame of reference. Especially this time of year when many HOA's are budgeting and discussing whether to increase for rates for next year. Obviously, there are differences between properties so a direct comparison of costs isn't always apples to apples. I did try to address this to a degree by separating concierge and non concierge buildings into groups.

Note that HOA costs are just one factor in evaluating the finances of a condominium and are best viewed in conjunction with an HOA's "percent funded" as reported in their reserve study.
