Slipping in before the rough in inspection next week we were able to get Sonny Days Carpentry to come out and frame up two closets at the entrance of the main cabin. The tops can even support a good amount of weight! It’s interesting to note that these symmetrical structures make the space seem more grounded and make the entry more defined.

The solar ready electric service meter is progressing and there is always dirt to move even as night moves in.

Duke Energy has put in the pole, transformer and wiring. Next up trenching to reach the house. Due to high winds during hurricanes we decided the most sustainable hook up was underground cables instead of coming in thru the roof. Keeping the jungle from overtaking the job site is ongoing during our summer monsoon season.

Thanks to Queso’s Painting for a wonderful exterior paint job! Although the exterior trim design is not finished, getting the siding protected with paint was a priority during the summer monsoon season. We planted sunflowers in the front and spread SunnHemp cover crop in the back to get it ready for garden fertility. Interior electrical rough in is still in progress.

Finishing up the last bit of the water pipe in the trenches. Getting the dirt back in is a job for another day for these...

Finally, the plumbing interior and exterior rough in stage is done to the tune of $4.6k thanks to Bullgator Plumbing. All cabins have water shutoffs and sewer is hooked up. Electrical rough in is a bit more time consuming and complex so it will take a month or more to finish up. Electrical utilities (Duke Energy) will need to set a new pole and trench for underground wiring to the house that will start in a little over a month for a cost of $4.4k.
