Meet YOUR REALTOR Monday July 13, 2026

The heat is expected to make a comeback this week. Even on LBI, Wednesday’s temperature is expected to reach 96 degrees, with the “feels like” temperature most likely climbing over 100. 🥵

So, what do you do when it is THAT hot?

In my younger years, the heat was no problem. Now? I am perfectly happy staying inside, keeping cool and playing games. 😂

I am currently learning to play Mahjong—the game that seems to be sweeping LBI and so many other areas!

I have taken two lessons already this summer and feel pretty confident that I can play a slow game with other beginners. We played partners during my first lesson and we won! Beginner's luck? Maybe. 🀄️

I still don't completely understand the dealing part, but I am hoping to pick that up the more I play.

The good news is there are plenty of groups and opportunities to learn and play Mahjong on LBI.

My teachers were my friends Leslie and Lisa from LBI_BeachBams. They have organized Mahjong lessons and open play at different locations around the Island. This Wednesday, they are hosting a beginner's class at Fourchette in Beach Haven that includes a cheese tasting. On Thursday evening, they will be at Allie May in Beach Haven—and that event includes a shopping discount.

Cheese, shopping and laughter? Sounds like a great time to me! Just sign up and show up. They supply everything else.

LBI Girlfriends also hosts Mahjong every Wednesday afternoon at LBI Pancake House. All levels are welcome, and I am looking forward to joining a few Wednesday afternoon games and meeting new people. You can register on the TeamReach app under the group Ship Bottom Mahjong.

If Wednesdays don't work for you, how about Mahj Mondays at Five O Six Boutique in Surf City?

At this point, I think you can probably find a Mahjong game just about any day of the week on LBI!
