🏡 Sometimes finding the right home takes a little time and that’s perfectly okay. ❤️

We first met Tammy about six months ago at an open house, and little did we know that one open house would turn into such a special homebuying journey. 🥰

We looked at several homes together, talked through what she wanted, what felt right, and what didn’t. And yes, we even went back and toured some of the same homes more than once! 😂🏡

There was never any pressure to hurry. We simply kept looking, kept talking, and kept taking it one step at a time until Tammy found the home that felt like the one. ❤️🔑

And now… SHE’S HOME! 🎉🏡

620 credit score? 👀

Don’t automatically assume you need to spend another year getting your credit into the 700s before you even talk to someone about buying a home. 🏡

And here’s something important: you don’t necessarily have to have a 620 credit score to buy a home.

620 is simply a common score for many homebuyer and loan programs but there are programs with different credit requirements, and your overall financial picture matters.

Your credit score is just one piece of the puzzle.

Income, debt, employment history, savings, loan type, and available down payment assistance can all play a role in determining what you may qualify for.

So instead of asking:
Is my credit score good enough?

Try asking:
What would I need to do to become ready? 👀

Yes, you read that right. 👀

There are Louisiana homebuyer programs with millions of dollars in assistance available statewide to help eligible buyers become homeowners. 🏡💰

That doesn’t mean one person gets millions. 😂 It means funding has been made available through programs designed to help qualifying homebuyers with some of the financial hurdles that can make buying feel out of reach.

Depending on the program, assistance may be available toward things like down payment or closing costs.

The biggest mistake is assuming you make too much, don’t have enough saved, or simply won’t qualify without ever checking.

You might be closer than you think.

A 520 credit score doesn’t automatically mean homeownership is off the table for a veteran. 🇺🇸🏡

There are certain VA financing options that may work with credit scores starting around 520, depending on the lender, your overall financial picture, and other qualifying requirements.

And here’s something else people sometimes misunderstand the VA itself doesn’t set a maximum loan amount for borrowers with full entitlement. What you qualify for will still depend on things like income, debt, credit, and lender guidelines.

So if you’ve been waiting because you assumed your credit score meant an automatic no, it may be worth having the conversation.

You don’t need to have everything perfect before you start getting information.
