These pictures mean everything to me. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to showcase at the Ford Motor Company Fund and 1863 HERImpact pitch competition. It was a very special day for me for several reasons. The most important reason is that God has a funny way of reminding us that He is always there with us and letting us know we are on the right track. I do not take certain things as a coincidence. I was placed in front of the number 2019, which is when my life changed. At the time, I thought it was for the worst but it was actually for the better. It is when Healing Not Hurting was birthed. Yesterday, God also confirmed throughout the entire night that I am 100% walking in my purpose. I never in a million years thought this company would have the impact it had on people yesterday. I thank God for choosing me to do this work.
When I gave myself the title of the "bloodline changer" of my family, I knew that it was a serious title and a huge commitment, but it was one that I was up for the challenge. I was going to be all in every day, working toward that goal. It is not just a shirt I wear because it is my brand; it is something I live by. Yesterday, Allure got to stand next to me. Growing up, I had no clue what an entrepreneur was. It was not around me. I did not know that we could start businesses. Even when I began my entrepreneurial journey, I was told by family that it was something I should not get into because I was a single parent. To me, I thought that was all the more reason to do it, so I could be present for my children, be there for milestone moments, and extracurricular activities. I also thought it was even more of a reason so my children would have someone to look up to.
To have her standing next to me, sharing what my company was about to Ford execs and investors, meant everything to me. To hear my daughter say, "Mom, I'm proud of you" was special. Most importantly, to have her not only see myself but also other powerful black women who are killing it in their businesses, businesses that have scaled to 7 figures, and to hear her say, "I'm so inspired," was everything. This is what changing the bloodline looks like.
