Airbnb hosts need to watch out for last-minute modification requests!

We are seeing more guests request date changes shortly before arrival and then immediately cancel the modified reservation to avoid cancellation penalties under the original booking terms.

One thing to consider is implementing a policy of no reservation modifications within 15–30 days of arrival unless the change clearly benefits the host.

Even when you carefully review a modification request, it is almost impossible to know whether the guest truly had a change of plans or if the request is being used as a workaround to avoid cancellation fees.

This can leave hosts stuck with hard-to-rebook dates during peak season and unfortunately makes it harder to trust legitimate guest requests when emergencies or real scheduling conflicts happen.
