A Southport Staple!

Down by the waterfront, Fishy Fishy Cafe in Southport, NC is the kind of spot that makes you slow down and stay awhile. You walk up with the river breeze in your face, hear the chatter from the deck, and catch that fresh, salty smell that tells you youre in the right place. You dig into crispy fried shrimp, flaky fish tacos, and a piled-high seafood platter that tastes like it came straight off the boat. You chase it with hushpuppies, tangy slaw, and a squeeze of lemon, then linger over a cold drink while boats drift by. You grab a table without much fuss, the portions feel generous for the price, and the staff keeps it easygoing and friendly. You leave full, happy, and already planning your next sunset stop.

Some barbecue joints try too hard. This one just smells like smoke before you even get out of the car, tucked into Building C on N Howe Street like locals already know the deal. I’m still thinking about how a spot this unflashy ends up being the one people talk about in that tone. 🔗👇🏻
