📍 Sparta, NJ | 1910 🇺🇸
Before Lake Mohawk. Before the boardwalk. Before so much of the Sparta we know today.
This was Main Street, a dirt road with with horse-drawn carriages and storefronts that look much different from today. Cabins tucked into the cliffs. The Sparta Train Station, still in operation. A bridge in the Glen made from hand cut logs and branches.
These photos are more than history. They are a glimpse into the people, places, and everyday moments that helped shape the town we get to call home.
I’ve been using AI to bring old photographs of Sparta back to life, and this one stopped me in my tracks.
Because loving where you live means knowing what came before it, too.
