Today we're honoring Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Long before there were neighborhoods, street names, or front porches here in the Ozarks, this land was home to Indigenous peoples whose roots run deep in these hills and rivers. Their history is woven into the places we love and the ground we build on.

In our work, we talk a lot about what makes a place feel like home. Today feels like the right day to pause and remember the people who first called this land home, and to carry that respect with us every day.

Today is Fire Prevention Day, and I'll be honest... this one hits close to home for me. 🏡

Every house I help someone buy or sell holds a whole story. First steps, birthday cakes, holiday mornings, late night talks at the kitchen island. Walls and floors can be replaced. Those people and memories can't.

So here's your friendly little homework from me today:

🔸 Push the test button on every smoke alarm
🔸 Swap in fresh batteries while you're up on that ladder
🔸 Walk through your home and make sure everyone knows two ways out of every room
🔸 Find your fire extinguisher (yes, actually find it) and check that it's still good to go

It takes less time than your morning coffee run, and it protects the place where your life happens.

If you're getting ready to sell, these small things matter during inspections too. And if you just moved in, this is the perfect weekend to learn your new home inside and out.
