Something fun for the family tomorrow night, now that it’s finally stopped raining! 🎉

Cranford Police are teaming up with Union County agencies for National Night Out, and this year’s lineup is packed.

K-9s, McGruff the Crime Dog, fire trucks and rescue vehicles, a silent disco, obstacle course, face painting, Rita’s Italian Ice and Photo Booth.

But the best part? Dunk-a-Cop is back, and this year we’ve got special guests. Superintendent Mark Cantagallo, who used to be the Cranford High School principal, is taking the hot seat first, and later in the night it’s Police Chief Matthew Nazzaro.

So if you’ve ever gotten a speeding ticket, or detention at Safety Six back in the day, this is your moment. Get your frustrations out for a great cause, all proceeds go to Project Home, helping local families with mortgage and rent relief through Cranford Family Care.

Tuesday Aug 4th, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., new location this year at Union College on Springfield Ave in Cranford.

Some Westfield news that I know a lot of people have feelings about.

Stop and Shop on Elm Street is closing this fall.

They plan to operate through early fall 2026 and last week company reps met with employees to share the news and discuss transfer options to other locations.

It was not the biggest store but it was easy. Easy to run into when you needed something without making a whole production out of it. It has been part of this community for a long time and that matters.

Now here is the part worth knowing. The property was already sold earlier this year and the mayor has had conversations with the new owners. Their track record is repositioning and re-tenanting commercial properties, not residential development. So something new is likely coming to that space. Hopefully!!

No details yet but we will be watching closely.

Cranford Public Library just reopened their expanded children’s room and it is really something special. I stopped by yesterday with my little and we both loved it.

It is bright and open and just feels really good when you walk in. The kids have so much to do in there. Wooden games built right into the bookshelves, blocks for the little ones, computer stations with games across all different age levels covering art, science, and math. There is even a little gated area next to the computers for when you need a second to breathe.

And the reading nooks are so cute. A built in book nook inside one of the rows, window bench seating, cozy spots in the back. Exactly what kids love.

There is also a dedicated multipurpose room in the back for all their scheduled activities and events so pull up their calendar because there is a lot going on.

When we left my buddy was already asking when we could come back.

How lucky are we to have this in Cranford!

Spotted in Scotch Plains 👀….A local omakase? Yes please and thank you.

sushi_bby_official is opening its doors at 1832 East 2nd Street in Scotch Plains and they are hoping to be open in August.

If you are not familiar with omakase, the chef decides everything. You sit back, trust the process, and get surprised by what comes out. Yum.

They will also be doing tuna carvings and private events which sounds absolutely incredible - the pics on their page look super fun.

Pine Street Park, Roselle NJ
West 2nd Ave and Pine Street. A cute fenced in forest themed splash pad with flower sprayers and frog and bee climbers. Great for the little ones.

Wheeler Park, Linden NJ
248 W Stimpson Ave. A full on water playground with over 30 attractions including slides, dump buckets, a dragon, a pirate ship and water cannons. Small fee applies.

Ponderosa Farm Park, Scotch Plains NJ
1600 Cooper Road. Three large play structures and water jets on a rubberized surface. No reservation needed. Pack some shade though, it is sunny.

Snyder Avenue Park, Berkeley Heights NJ
240 Snyder Ave. A football themed splash pad with a giant goal post that shoots water.

Lake Papaianni Park, Edison NJ
