A few things that make STL, STL:
🍽️ Toasted ravioli — the story goes a chef accidentally dropped ravioli in the fryer instead of the pot, and instead of starting over, STL said “actually… yes.” A whole cuisine built on not wasting food. Iconic.
🍰 Gooey butter cake — another “happy accident” origin story (are we noticing a pattern here?), and now it’s the dessert every STL grandma has a “secret” recipe for. Non-negotiable at any gathering.
🌆 We were once the 4th largest city in the entire country — from the 1870s all the way through the 1920s. Before Chicago, before Houston, before Phoenix. STL was THE place to be.
🎡 The 1904 World’s Fair brought over 20 million visitors to Forest Park and gave us the ice cream cone, iced tea as we know it, and even hosted the Olympics that same year. One summer, St. Louis was the center of the entire world.
⚾🏒 Our sports teams— Cardinals baseball, Blues hockey, a fanbase that will debate both with total strangers in line at Target, and a city-wide memory for championship runs that never fades.
We’ve got the history, the food, and the loyalty to match. This is a “if you know, you know” kind of city. 🏟️
