This morning I learned that Patrick Armstrong passed away on July 3 after battling liver cancer.
Patrick worked with me for several years, and he was one of those people you could always count on. If there was a problem to solve, he never hesitated. He'd simply say, "Let's go."
Some time ago, I felt God prompting me to visit him and bring him a Bible. We had a meaningful conversation about faith. Although he didn't choose to accept Christ during that visit, I'm grateful I listened to that prompting and had the opportunity to share what I believe.
One thing that has stayed with me was hearing Patrick talk about how much he appreciated the morning light and the kindness of the people around him. Even while facing difficult circumstances, he found things to be thankful for.
People like Patrick don't come along every day. I'm thankful our paths crossed, and I'll always remember his willingness to help others.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and everyone who knew him.
