After a lot of patience, strategy, and negotiation, they are officially homeowners in the the Plant School District. Think purchasing a home under $1million in the the Plant District is obsolete, think again! Opportunities still exist out there, and for a bonus win the solar panels were paid off at closing by the sellers!

If you've been renting for years and always felt like those monthly payments weren't helping you get any closer to owning a home, this is interesting news.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are beginning to adopt credit scoring models that can take rent and utility payment history into account when evaluating mortgage applicants. For some first-time buyers, that could make a real difference. I've talked to so many people who assumed they weren't ready to buy, only to find out they had more options than they thought.

If homeownership has been sitting in the "maybe someday" category, it may be worth revisiting the conversation. The lending landscape is changing, and what was true a year ago may not be true today.
