Florida's property tax amendment is on the November ballot.

The Legislature passed HJR 1-F yesterday, sending the property tax overhaul to voters. If approved, the homestead exemption rises from $50,000 to $250,000 over two years. The non-homestead cap drops from 10% to 5%. School taxes are not affected.

New residents face a five-year waiting period.
Whatever you think about it, you should understand what is actually on the ballot.

I got to thinking about Several things this morning... It's a Hot topic right now... no question. Florida is currently discussing additional Homestead tax relief for property owners. We don't know the answers, but it is up for discussion and it looks as though some changes might be in the near future. If you're considering relocating from out of state, now may be the time to start exploring your options before any future changes take effect. These three properties would definitely benefit from some of these proposed changes. And then I noticed something else, all three have something very much in common...
