Anchor House is thrilled to receive a two-year Empowerment Grant from the Provident Bank Foundation! This grant will help partially support our Safe Housing and Outreach programs.

Empowerment Grant partners, including Anchor House staff, recently had the opportunity to work with The Provident Bank Foundation in coordination with America's Grow-a-Row to help harvest 45,000 servings of farm-grown produce.

We were proud to join the community in making an impact harvesting food to be donated locally.

Thank you to the Foundation for the continued support of our mission and for bringing us together for a morning of service!

Thank you to Women's Prayer Circle - WPC for their support of New Jersey's youth!

Congratulations to Myasia, one of our young people who recently graduated with her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice! The Women's Prayer Circle has generously recognized Myasia's accomplishments with a financial donation to help her on her continued path to success.

Summer break is ending and a new school year has arrived. We want to wish every student, educator, and admin a great and productive school year!

Our hearts and sincere condolences go out to all who are mourning the loss of loved ones in the wake of the mass shooting this past weekend in the City. We are also keeping those who remain hospitalized in our thoughts and prayers, along with their families, friends, and everyone impacted by this senseless act of violence.

Just last week, our community was also grieving the heartbreaking loss of young lives in a devastating fire. In such a short time, families, children, and our entire community have experienced unimaginable loss, pain and trauma.

We know that events like these can affect each of us differently. They can bring feelings of sadness, anger, fear, grief, anxiety, or simply leave us struggling to make sense of what has happened. There is no right or wrong way to feel, and no one should have to navigate these emotions alone.

Anchor House is here to support our community. We are offering FREE counseling services to anyone who is feeling affected by these recent tragedies and needs someone to talk to.

If you or someone you know could use emotional support, please call (609) 396-8329. We will connect you with one of our counselors as soon as possible.

In difficult moments like these, our presence, compassion, and willingness to care for one another truly matter.

On Friday, we also said goodbye to two of our hardworking volunteers, Chloe and Maggie!

Chloe had this to say of her time with Anchor House:
"My service term at Anchor House has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. When I first joined the organization, I shadowed various programs and took on a supportive role. As I grew into my role as an AmeriCorps member, I led staff events, co-hosted workshops, and worked alongside case managers to meet the needs of their clients. In doing so, I watched the clients grow alongside me. Many are now going off to college, growing their careers, and applying for housing. I am proud of the work done by myself, the case managers, and their clients. These successes are thanks to a team effort, and Anchor House is filled with wonderful staff members who always strive to do right by their clients. I learned a lot from this team throughout my service term, and I will carry these lessons with me throughout my career."

Maggie, who had previously completed a Planning degree at Rutgers with a concentration in Housing, saw an opportunity to put her education into practice at Anchor House. She appreciated the more applied, practical work, and said she walked a way with a better understanding of the ways theory informs, but doesn't always fully square with, practical application.

This past Friday, the Community Action Group stopped by Anchor House to help with some much needed sorting! When volunteers assist with tasks like these, it helps our staff better focus on the mission and their work. We're grateful to everyone who came out to help!

The Back-To-School Extravaganza certainly lived up to its name! It was great connecting with the community to help our youth succeed this 2026-2027 school year!
