Report: L.A. permits 8,800 homes in the first half of 2026
Los Angeles has issued more than 8,800 new home permits in the first half of 2026—an impressive increase, nearly three times higher than last year. While it’s encouraging to see so much movement, it’s important to note that a significant portion of these permits are for rebuilding homes lost to wildfires. As someone who’s helped many clients navigate the challenges of buying and selling in our region, I know firsthand that housing production is still lagging behind what’s needed. High rents, rising office vacancies, and a local job market shifting toward education and health services are all shaping the landscape. Even as we see progress, the realities on the ground continue to test buyers and sellers alike. My commitment remains making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible, with a focus on serving our community’s real needs.
