Hope everyone stays safe and warm during this Blizzard!
Be sure to follow these tips to ensure the safety of your family and your home!
❄️ Winter storm coming: Stay fire safe ❄️
As temperatures drop and snow accumulates, the risk of home fires and carbon monoxide poisoning increases. Most winter storm emergencies are preventable.
🔥 Heat Safely
• Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn.
• Plug heaters directly into the wall; no extension cords.
• Turn heaters off when you leave or go to sleep.
• Put fireplace ashes in a metal container with a lid and store it outside, away from your home.
⚡ Generator Safety
• Never run generators inside your home or garage.
• Keep them at least 20 feet from your home, exhaust pointed away.
• Never use your oven or grill to heat your home.
• Use flashlights instead of candles.
🚨 Check Your Alarms
• Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
• Replace batteries if needed.
• If an alarm sounds, get outside and call 9-1-1.
🏠 Keep Paths Clear
• Clear vents, exits, and hydrants of snow.
• Make sure your address is visible.
• Check on your neighbors.
Prepare now. Heat safely. Test your alarms.
