Now that Labor Day has passed, it's officially fall. And with that, plenty of fun fall-related activities to enjoy with friends and family!🍁If you recently moved here and plan to visit some local farms and local events, here is a whole list that I'd recommend!

1. Lane Southern Orchards Corn Maze Days–
When: Throughout October
What: A 6-acre corn maze, hayrides, games, and classic fall farm activities. They also host a Fall Farm Festival on October 17, featuring arts & crafts vendors and food.

2. Fall Frenzy on the Farm at Green Acres Farm
When: September 26th
What: The Frenzy features many activities for the kiddos ranging from a millet maze, pumpkin patch, corn bin, tractor rides, farm animals, games, and much more! Concessions are offered throughout the event, so plan to bring your friends and family out to have some good old-fashioned fun on the farm!

3. Georgia National Fair in Perry!
When: October 8–18
What: Probably the biggest fall event in Middle Georgia: rides, fair food, livestock shows, live entertainment, fireworks, exhibits, and the Baby Barn.

4. Fall Pumpkin Festival in Milledgeville
When: October 10
What: Pumpkin patch, hayrides, bounce houses, seasonal games, vendors, petting animals, and a pumpkin included with qualifying admission. Very family-oriented.

5. FoodeesFest at The Shoppes at River Crossing in Macon
When: October 9–11
What: A three-day food festival featuring 40+ food trucks and vendors, plus artisans and crafters selling handmade goods. Admission is free, making it a great fall outing for food, shopping, and time with friends or family.

6. Downtown Perry Sweets & Treats
When: October 30, 4–6 PM
What: A free, car-free downtown trick-or-treating event. Kids can dress up and trick or-treat through the downtown area and participating businesses.

7. Fried Green Tomato Festival in Juliette on Historic McCrackin Street
When: October 24–25
What: Local artisans, vendors, live music, food, shopping, and all the Fried Green Tomatoes nostalgia in the little town where the movie was filmed. Admission is free.

8. Fall & Fossil Fest in Macon
When: October 3
What: Pumpkin carving, fossil activities, dinosaur programs and meet-and-greets, plus other fall activities. Guests can bring their own pumpkin to carve.

9. Macon Beer Fest in Downtown Macon
When: October 10
What: More than 100 craft beers and wines, live music, a beer run, and downtown Macon atmosphere. There is also a Rock & Roll Pub Crawl the night before that combines Macon's music history with beer stops.

10. Fall Garden Festival in Perry at the UGA Houston County Extension Office
When: September 26
What: A fall garden festival featuring mums and plants for sale, local vendors, food booths, a bake sale, gardening demonstrations, a petting zoo, make-and-take activities, and more. Admission and parking are free.

I can't believe I'm admitting this publicly, but my highest-priced Houston County listing almost sat forever because of one paint color.

The dining room and kitchen had some pretty bold accent walls that had to change.

"When we first started the process of buying a home, we quickly realized we needed more than someone who could simply show us houses. After attempting to work with another Realtor, we discovered that we needed someone who would truly walk us through every step, someone who had time for us, who would answer our questions, and who would never make us feel like those questions were pointless. That’s when we found Beth. ❤️

From the beginning, what stood out most about working with Beth and The Lynn Realty Group was the attention to detail. Our wants, our absolute no-go’s, and even the little things that mattered most to us were never pushed to the side. Beth listened. She understood. This one is LONG overdue!

Samantha and I recently made a trip down to visit The Grill in Hawkinsville, now owned by some very precious friends of mine, Josh and Laura Nixon.

I met Josh and Laura at church when we were in the same small group, and at the time I had no idea their family owned The Grill. When they took over ownership several months ago, I knew I wanted to feature them in one of my Small Business Spotlights. It just took me a little longer than planned to get there!

Laura is the one you’ll find running the restaurant day to day and The Grill is exactly what you want in a small-town restaurant…good home cooking, really good hamburgers and that everybody-knows-everybody atmosphere. I tried the chicken fried steak sandwich and Samantha had the BBQ hamburger, and both were SO good.

But y’all…the best part of our lunch may have been the people we met.

The Grill is small, and when we got there the only table available was a six-top. Samantha and I scooted ourselves toward the wall and figured if somebody else came in, we’d just share.

Less than five minutes later, a couple walked in. We offered them the other seats, they accepted, and the next thing you know we’re all sitting there eating lunch like we came together! We laughed, talked, swapped stories, exchanged phone numbers and left with two new friends. And YES, those are our brand-new lunch buddies in the pictures. ❤️

THAT is small-town Georgia.

Now for a couple of fun Laura facts…

Before restaurant life, Laura actually sang at Dollywood. And you can still catch her performing live from time to time.

And this may be my favorite… if you own a small business, take Laura one of your shirts or hats with your logo on it and they’ll actually wear it at The Grill to help promote your business! How cool is that? Small businesses supporting small businesses. ❤️

So if you’re in downtown Hawkinsville, stop by The Grill, say hello to Laura and grab yourself a burger—or take my advice and try that chicken fried steak sandwich.
