Get ready for Oktoberfest at the Des Moines Biergarten! From September 18–20, 2026, Water Works Park is hosting a free, three-day party packed with German vibes, great community energy, and plenty of fun.

Expect live music, classic Oktoberfest contests, tons of local and German food vendors, and, of course, lots of beer. We’ve got some awesome highlights lined up, too, like the Golden Keg Bicycle Ride starting at the Iowa State Capitol, the official tapping of the Golden Keg, and Barktoberfest.

The festival is happening in the shady, tree-covered area of the park, and it’s completely family- and dog-friendly. There’ll be games, activities, and plenty of space to kick back and hang out. Admission is totally free, but you can grab one of our limited-edition steins while they last.

Plus, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Water Works Park Foundation to help keep one of Des Moines' favorite parks looking great. Grab your friends (and your pups) and come celebrate with us!

September at the orchard is all about cozy harvest vibes. Country Celebration runs all month long, bringing back the old-school farm traditions everyone loves. You can watch horse-drawn wagons roll by, try your hand at rope making, check out a corn-shelling demo, and chat with the local crafters.

The celebration is fully included with your farm admission. Since the activities change up every weekend, you can keep coming back for more! September is also prime apple-picking season. While you're here, make sure to swing by the bakery for some fresh-pressed cider and warm apple cider donuts, take a ride on the CGO Express, and explore over 40 other fun attractions.

September is a lot more laid-back. The crowds are smaller, the leaves are starting to change, and the pace is nice and slow.

Just a heads-up on tickets: admission is required for everyone aged 3 and up. It's $14.95 on weekdays and $19.95 on weekends.
