The Hackensack Planning Board has given the green light to relocate White Manna Hamburgers, allowing the nearly 80-year-old landmark to move to a new site while preserving its Art Deco character.
Esther Realty of Teaneck plans to move the 276-square-foot building from 358 River St. to 112-120 Hackensack Ave. and attach a 1,600-square-foot addition to accommodate a modern kitchen, office space, restrooms, a take-out area and an ADA-compliant dining room. The developer will also build a 17-car parking lot and a 1,695-square-foot cellar.
The property sits west of the Fairleigh Dickinson University campus, across the Hackensack River. White Manna โ not to be confused with the similarly named White Mana Diner in Jersey City โ has served sliders, crinkle-cut fries and shakes from its River Street spot since 1946.
