Love this time of year. Cooler temperatures, changing leaves, football and hunting season. It’s also nice when I’m doing inspections. Roofs, attics and crawl spaces are a lot cooler. Waiting for a good freeze to kill off the spiders. Nothing like crawling around with the critters!
I really do enjoy this business. It’s nice to be able help people in their process of selecting a home. Coming up on my 7th year as a home inspector. Starting my second year of a three year term as a sitting board member for the Home Inspection exam committee. Good learning process.

Thank you to all the realtors that were supportive in my return to doing inspections full time. I cut back for a while, but now I’m after it again!

I recently posted that I’m employed at Dolese in Weatherford. They have been very understanding of my home inspection business. They let me off Thursday and Friday’s if I’m scheduled for inspections. So not hesitate to holler at me when you need a home or commercial inspection. I appreciate the six yrs and over 600 inspections that I’ve had so far and all the wonderful people I’ve been able to meet.

Different problems that I incur at inspections.

Corner pops or corner wedges as some refer to it as, are caused by the expansion and contraction of the concrete and brick mortar. Corners are always a weak spot. This is generally cosmetic, until you start seeing cracks in the brick and mortar above it. It can be repaired with rebar dowels and epoxy. If its too bad you will have to form up and poor new concrete with rebar anchored to the foundation. If not to bad of a crack you can just seal it up to keep moisture from freezing and making it worse.

I appreciate all of the great reviews I've received from my clients. I really enjoy doing these inspections. Being able to help people in the process of buying their first home or those who are just moving to a bigger home. I like teaching about the house and all the components that make it up.
Been in business now 3 1/2 years. I've done over 400 inspections and still I see new things all the time. Construction is always changing with new materials and technology.
A home inspection consist of inspecting everything from the roof & attic, the structure, the crawl space, the plumbing and electrical, the heat & air system, the appliances and the interior. I always get a full report to the client by that evening.

I even get to inspect new homes occasionally. You would be surprised how many things get over looked in the building of a new home. I've found things like air ducts not connected in the attic, electrical outlets with no power, smoke detectors not working, unfinished tile grouting, caulking not completed, and so on. Sometimes its the details that get missed!

Since starting my new business, Ok Home Inspection, I've had a number of people ask "what is a home inspection?" A home inspection is the inspection that is required by mortgage companies and lenders when you are buying a property. The inspection is a full evaluation of the property, and takes at least two hours, but often longer, depending on the size of the property. Many times this service is acquisitioned by the buyer before closing, but sellers may also like to have an inspection prior to listing in order to get the property ready to sell.
The purpose of the inspection is to identify components of the property that may need to be repaired or replaced. I look at every area of the property from foundation to roof, including plumbing, electrical, heat & air, interior and exterior. I evaluate the appliances, checking the age and condition of just about everything. At the end of the inspection, clients get a summery of everything, including pictures of my findings, and a verbal walk through of the inspection. I do not do any repairs myself, as this would be a conflict of interest, but I provide an estimate for any repairs noted.
Nearly every home has areas that that need some attention, my goal is simply bring those areas to the forefront and help clients navigate any action they may want to take.
