💧 Texas is growing fast. Our water supply? Not quite as fast.

Water may not be something we think about every day—until the lake gets low, watering restrictions begin or another Texas summer refuses to give us a break. 🔥

Right now, Texas’ monitored water-supply reservoirs are sitting at roughly 74% full statewide. But that number doesn’t tell the whole story. Some areas are in good shape, while others are dealing with much tighter supplies.

And the bigger concern is what comes next.

📈 Texas is expected to add millions of people over the coming decades, while some of the water sources we already depend on are projected to become less reliable. During a drought similar to the worst Texas has experienced, the state could face a significant gap between the water we need and the water already available.

So how does Texas prepare?

The state’s long-term plan includes a mix of:

💧 Conserving more water and reducing system leaks
♻️ Reusing and recycling water
🌊 Expanding desalination
🏞️ Developing additional surface-water supplies and reservoirs
💦 Storing water underground for future use
🚰 Investing in aging water infrastructure

This isn’t just a “someday” issue.

🔑 Water affects where homes can be built, how communities grow, agriculture, ranching, businesses and ultimately the long-term value and usability of Texas land.

📊 Parker County Real Estate Market Update | August 2026

August brought a noticeable slowdown in activity across Parker County — especially when it came to homes entering the market and homes making it to the closing table.

While both new listings and closed sales dropped from July, two numbers stayed fairly consistent: days on market and months of inventory. 📆

So what does that mean?

For buyers, fewer new listings can mean fewer fresh options hitting the market each week. For sellers, homes are still taking about the same amount of time to sell, making pricing, condition and presentation especially important.

The market isn’t standing still — but it is moving at a different pace as we head toward fall.
