Good Information for Eclipse

Hays County will be expecting unprecedented traffic congestion leading up to and after the eclipse on April 8th. In preparation for this, HCSO will be strategically placing deputies around the county in the hopes to avoid delayed responses due to this congestion, doubling the number of deputies you would normally see on patrol. We’re advising residents to make sure you have plenty of gas in your vehicles prior to the weekend before the eclipse. While there is no need to panic buy, we’re also recommending doing your normal grocery shopping prior to the weekend before the eclipse. Due to the influx of people, there will be a strain on cell phone capabilities. If you’re unable to call 911 with your cell phone, other options would be Wi-Fi calling, ethernet, or a land line. We also understand that you may find yourself in an area with little to no signal. In these cases, make sure you have a map of where you’re going and how to get home downloaded offline BEFORE you take off. Both Apple and Google Maps have these capabilities.
