Mortgage Rate Update 🏡📊

Rates moved in both directions this week, with the 30-year conventional average sitting around 6.95% and VA around 6.59% as of September 14th.

So what does that actually mean if you’re thinking about making a move?

A lower rate can mean a lower monthly payment and more buying power, but the interest rate is only one piece of the picture. Your loan type, credit, down payment, home price, and even whether you choose to buy down your rate can all affect what your actual payment looks like.

A few practical things to keep in mind:
• Buyers: Get pre-approved before you start seriously shopping so you know what payment fits your budget, not just what purchase price you qualify for.
• Sellers: Rates affect your buyers too, so pricing your home appropriately can be especially important when affordability is tight.
• Already own a home? Keep an eye on rates, but refinancing only makes sense when the potential monthly savings outweigh the costs involved.
