From the City:
First, the entire City of Wixom is STILL under a Boil Water Advisory. This began because the City was, and is now, temporarily on an alternative 24-inch water main as opposed to the normal 42-inch water main that broke back on Thursday, September 25th. The reality is that the smaller pipe means less water is available to service our daily needs and the Boil Water Advisory came about because water pressure decreased through the 24-inch pipe because water use exceeded the capacity of the pipe.
The current estimate for the restoration of service through the 42-inch water main is 7 to 11 days from today.
We are hopeful that the Boil Water Advisory will be lifted as early as Thursday, October 2nd and that we will be able to maintain safe water pressure, and avoid another Boil Water Advisory, until the 42-inch main is restored as our service, again in 7 to 11 days.
In the meanwhile, we need residents and businesses in Wixom to conserve water to hopefully prevent demand from exceeding supply. This will also help us to avoid the continuation of the Boil Water Advisory any longer than necessary AND prevent a new one as well. We do NOT want demand to exceed supply again.
This literally means we need residents to use as little water as possible. Conservation measures include:
Not washing cars
Not running sprinkler systems or otherwise washing lawns
Limiting anything else to the extent possible
Laundry
Dishwashing
Etc.
Please share this email via any distribution list you have for HOA residents ASAP. Thank you for your assistance as we try to help residents help themselves on this and eliminate the existing need to boil water.
