🚧 Project Update – Phase 2 Complete! 🚧

Another big milestone knocked out at this property!

✅ Arizona Buff flagstone walkway installation is finished up
✅ Custom curved layout completed to improve flow and accessibility around the home
✅ Decorative cobble edging installed for a clean, high-end finish
✅ Obsidian rock accents and mulch beds added to create contrast and definition
✅ Accent boulders strategically placed throughout the landscape for a natural mountain look
✅ Final grading and bed shaping completed around the patio and walkway areas

The transformation is really starting to take shape! What was once a difficult area to navigate is becoming a beautiful, functional outdoor space that complements the home and surrounding pines.

🚧 Mid-Project Update: Retaining Wall Rebuild 🚧

This retaining wall had reached the end of its life. Years of pressure from the hillside, drainage issues, and structural failure caused the wall to lean, separate, and become unsafe.

Over the last few days, we’ve been hard at work transforming this area from a failing structure into a long-lasting retaining system built to handle Colorado’s harsh conditions.

✅ Existing failing wall removed
✅ Excavation completed to stable subgrade
✅ New compacted aggregate base installed
✅ Drainage stone placed for proper water management
✅ Heavy-duty geotextile fabric installed
✅ Drain system being incorporated behind the wall
✅ First course and foundation preparation underway

The most important part of any retaining wall isn’t what you see—it’s what’s behind it. Proper drainage, compaction, and base preparation are what separate a wall that lasts 5 years from one that lasts decades.

🔨 Install drainage system and backfill
🔨 Complete structural reinforcement
🔨 Rebuild stairs and access points
🔨 Final grading and site restoration

We’re making major progress on this Woodland Park property, and the transformation is already taking shape!

✅ Retaining wall has been completed and is providing both function and definition to the landscape.

✅ French drain system installed behind the wall, along with proper gravel backfill for long-term drainage performance.

✅ Geogrid reinforcement installed throughout the wall system to ensure structural integrity and stability for years to come.

✅ Downspout drainage has been routed away from the home to help prevent erosion and protect the newly graded landscape.

✅ Dry creek beds have been installed to safely manage stormwater runoff while adding a natural mountain aesthetic.

✅ Flagstone walkway installation is now underway, creating easy access between the garage, back patio, and shed.

This project is a perfect example of how proper drainage, grading, and hardscape construction work together to create a functional outdoor space.

Stay tuned as we move into the next phase and watch this yard go from unusable and boring to a functional, beautiful, and clean finished landscape that the homeowners can enjoy for years to come!
