There are little marks on the doorframe that nobody ever thinks to remove.
A name beside them.
A date underneath.
A little line showing how much they've grown.
At first, you measure every few months.
Then every year.
And suddenly, you realise the little person you were measuring isn't so little anymore.
The house remembers every version of them.
The tiny one who couldn't reach the handle.
The child who raced through the passage.
The teenager who started closing the door.
Years pass.
The marks stay.
Because sometimes, the smallest things in a home hold the biggest memories.
