The thing that keeps most first-time buyers out isn't the monthly repayment. It's the deposit.
In March 2024 the average first-time buyer deposit was around R230,000. By June this year it had dropped to about R163,000 — a fall of roughly 29%.
That's not a reason to rush. Prime is at 10.50% and the SARB decides again on 23 September, so there's a real case for waiting to see. But if you'd written yourself off because of the deposit, the number is worth checking again.
Happy to run you through what you'd actually need. No obligation, no pressure.
