This week, we handed over two more Farmettes in The Meadows at Mount Verde Estate to Frances, James and their little boy, and to Jo and Clive, who are about to become neighbours in this growing corner of the KZN Midlands.
And, in true Mount Verde tradition, each family planted something to mark the start of their journey here.

Frances, James and their little boy planted a pecan nut tree which is the first of many to come. Jo and Clive planted a Hanepoot vine - the first little roots of what will become their own home, garden and life at Mount Verde.

Both families are planning to start building their homes soon, so it won’t be long before these Farmettes start transforming from open pieces of land into places filled with gardens, dogs, kids, braais, morning coffees and all the everyday moments that make a home.

The first calves are arriving — all wobbly legs, curious noses and those very sweet first days of discovering the world.

It’s one of the joys of living in a place where the seasons aren’t something you simply watch change. You get to live alongside them. 🤎

The beginning of a new story. 🌱

This week, Andrea and Luvan marked the start of theirs by planting a Coffea arabica on their farmette.

It’s a small start, but that’s what we love about this stage. The blank canvas. The plans. The possibilities. The excitement of imagining what this place will look and feel like in the years to come.

And while their home is still to be built, something is already growing.

That's exactly what awaits at the inaugural Midlands Cake Picnic at the Mount Verde Equestrian Centre.

On arrival, you'll receive your cake box before wandering the cake tables to choose any two slices from a delicious collection of bakes crafted by some of the Midlands' favourite home bakers and cake makers.

Bring your picnic blanket or camping chairs, pack your favourite picnic goodies, and make an afternoon of it. Swap bites, discover new favourites, enjoy kids' activities, and relax with sweeping views across the paddocks. Coffee, tea and other refreshments will be available to purchase, and you're welcome to BYOB.
