If you haven't been to Salsify in winter, you haven't had the full picture.

The Roundhouse sits in the hills above Camps Bay, a national monument that's been quietly home to some of the best cooking in the country for years. In June, when the summer crowds have gone and the mountain is doing its moody thing overhead, it's a different meal entirely.

Chefs Ryan Cole and Nina du Toit run a 10-course tasting menu built around what's in season and what they can source responsibly.

🍷 The wine pairing is exceptional. The view of the Twelve Apostles from your table is unreasonably good. Book well ahead.

Encounters is back for its 28th edition, running 4 to 14 June at the L***a Theatre and V&A Waterfront Ster-Kinekor. Africa's longest-running documentary festival, and this year it opens with the premiere of TUTU, a portrait of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, on 7 June.

The newest addition to Sea Point is worth your time.

The Cole opened on Church Road this summer, and the Kove Collection have done something good here. Start at Script on the ground floor. The cocktails are well thought out and the room is the kind of place you lose track of time in. Then take the lift to the 8th floor, where Figo sits on the rooftop with the Atlantic spread out in front of you.

The kitchen works with fire. Fresh pasta rolled in-house, seafood and meats over wood and coal. The menu is Italian in spirit but uses what's good here.

🌊 In June, when the sun shines on the ocean on a warm autumn day, that rooftop table is a properly good place to be.
