Our team have been closely involved in supporting the recent development of an automated closure and joins verification system by Land Services SA. We’ve been sharing practical feedback from our surveyors and drafters, and participating in in-person sessions with the development team.

We’re happy to contribute to the ongoing innovations that shape our industry, and our involvement means we’re well placed to manage the transition. That’s a win-win!

Over the end of year break, 20 of our staff got together to play in the annual Alexander Symonds Golf Day, and the winners walked away with their names forever engraved on the inaugural Franco Rea Championship Cup.

The Golf Day was a regular part of the A&S calendar for a number of years and 2025 saw it’s triumphant return. With the talent evenly spread across the teams, the final scores were relatively close. Congratulations to winners, James Montgomery, Sam Seskis, Luke M. and John McFarlane. It was an exciting day with plenty of laughs.

As Alexander Symonds wraps up another big year, we want to extend a sincere thank you to our clients and partners, and to our team and their families, for your continued support throughout 2025.

It’s been a milestone year for our business, with involvement in a range of significant projects across South Australia and Western Victoria. Our teams have been delivering results to be proud of in land development, construction, infrastructure, energy, and resources, and all that alongside the relocation of our Adelaide office midway through the year.

We’ll be taking a well-earned break over the festive period, finishing at close of business on Friday 19 December and reopening on Monday 5 January 2026.

To close out the year, we’re sharing a few highlights from our Christmas party at the National Wine Centre, a great way to celebrate the year that was with our team.

We wish you a safe and relaxing break, and we look forward to working with you again in the new year.

As the year comes to a close, we’re proud to recognise two remarkable milestones at Alexander Symonds.

Our Managing Director, Glenn Hordacre, celebrates an incredible 40 years with our company. Glenn’s leadership, commitment and steady guidance have shaped our business over decades, leaving a lasting impact on our people, our clients and the industry.

We also acknowledge the retirement of our Drafting Manager, Rob Fletcher, who will step away at the end of the year after 24 years of dedicated service. Rob’s technical expertise, mentorship and attention to detail have played a key role in the success of countless projects and the development of many team members.

We were delighted to be able to celebrate these outstanding achievements at our recent end of year celebration. Thank you again, Glenn and Rob, for your loyalty, leadership and legacy.

Continuous learning, shared expertise, and great company.

Our Reality Capture teams came together for a lunch and learn session to watch Yannick Stenger’s presentation on Scripting and Automation in Leica Cyclone 3DR from Hexagon Live Global 2025.

We use Leica Cyclone 3DR every day across our Terrestrial Laser Scanning, UAV Capture, and Mobile Mapping projects — it’s an essential tool that helps us deliver innovative survey solutions and support our clients in achieving their project goals.

These sessions are part of how we keep growing as a team — learning from each other, exploring new capabilities, and finding smarter ways to work.

Thanks to Hexagon, Leica Geosystems, and C R Kennedy for their ongoing support and for providing the technology that empowers our people to keep learning and leading in the spatial industry.

Proud to see Alexander Symonds play a part in shaping the future of Adelaide’s skyline.

Over recent years, we’ve worked alongside Freemasons SA and Walter Brooke to capture and document the historic Masonic Hall on North Terrace - an iconic site now forming part of the Keystone Tower development.

Using advanced reality capture, including 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry, our team created a detailed 3D model and high-resolution mesh of the building, capturing every architectural feature with precision. This dataset supported heritage documentation and planning approval, providing an accurate digital record of the Great Hall and associated structures prior to demolition.

The Keystone Tower, developed by Pelligra Group in partnership with Freemasons SA, will rise above the retained and restored Masonic Hall, delivering:
• A Westin Hotels & Resorts for Adelaide
• Premium commercial and hospitality spaces
• A three-level public viewing deck with panoramic city views
• A Museum of South Australia’s History, in partnership with the History Trust of SA

It was a privilege to attend the sod-turning ceremony with the Premier of South Australia, the Hon. Peter Malinauskas, Ross Pelligra, and project partners — celebrating how heritage documentation and modern development can come together to define Adelaide’s next chapter.
