Continuing our awards success trajectory for 2026, Hindmarsh was recently awarded the Excellence Award at the Schools Industry Partnership Awards.

The award recognises Hindmarsh as an employer who demonstrates an outstanding commitment to supporting and developing work placement students. By providing students with a valuable opportunity to experience the workplace, develop practical skills and gain a greater understanding of their chosen industry. By investing their time, knowledge and resources into work placement students, the employer plays an important role in helping young people develop the skills, experience and confidence needed to successfully transition from education into employment. Their commitment to mentoring, inclusion and providing meaningful workplace experiences demonstrates excellence in supporting the next generation of workers and makes them a deserving recipient of the Employer Excellence Award.

Over the last twelve months, Andrew Barkby - Senior Site Manager, represented Hindmarsh by dedicating his time and energy to host students for their work placement on the Gables school project, starting with one student per week to expanding to four per week. In total, 54 students completed their placements throughout the year. With over 20 years of construction experience, Andrew’s wealth of knowledge was enriched by the students with the positive feedback to match:

Hindmarsh has been appointed by UNSW Sydney to deliver the Design & Construct contract for the E25 Biolink Redevelopment, with construction now in early stages.

The E25 BioLink Redevelopment is a major renewal project within UNSW Sydney’s Kensington campus that will transform an ageing and underutilised building into a modern, sustainable and future-focused teaching and research facility. The redevelopment will deliver new spaces for teaching, learning and research while significantly improving accessibility, sustainability, campus activation and the overall student and staff experience.

The design leverages and repurposes the existing structure rather than replacing it entirely, maximising the value, reducing material waste, and demonstrating an innovative engineering solution that integrates new structural elements with the existing building framework. The surrounding buildings will remain occupied and operational throughout construction with extensive planning and delivery strategies in place to ensure continuity of operations and safety for UNSW students and staff.

Advanced environmental control systems designed to support research integrity through carefully managed airflow and filtration systems will be a standout feature upon the completion of the project.

A huge congratulations to our ACT team on an outstanding result at the ACT Master Builders and Asset Construction Hire Excellence Awards.

The Australian War Memorial Bean Building Extension and Central Energy Plant project was recognised in the Project Displaying Technical Difficulty or Innovation and Commercial Construction ($50M-$100M) categories, while Woden Green received recognition in the Apartments and Units (8 Storeys and Above) category.

We’d also like to acknowledge our subcontractor, Eifer, whose contribution to the Australian War Memorial project was recognised with awards for Best Use of Material in a Project and Best Use of Material in a Commercial Project.

We're proud to see both projects advance to the National Excellence in Building & Construction Awards in Brisbane this November.

At Hindmarsh, the mental health and wellbeing of our people is a priority. We recognise the challenges faced across the construction industry and are proud to partner with MATES in Construction in supporting mental health awareness, su***de prevention, and stronger workplace connections.

In recognition of MATES in Construction Fly The Flag Week, the Hindmarsh team and Load 28 came together to co-host an R U OK? Day barbecue at our Lot 51 project, creating an opportunity for meaningful conversations about mental health and the importance of looking out for one another.

Natalie and Marilyn from MATES in Construction shared insights into the vital support services available across the industry and highlighted ways workers can connect with a MATES Connector. Marcus Rigney, Load 28 Managing Director, delivered a powerful and personal message about mental health, reinforcing the importance of checking in with mates and reminding attendees that asking the question more than once can make a significant difference.

The event also recognised a strong commitment to safety on site, with Ben Tolley, State Manager – Construction SA, presenting safety awards to subcontractors from Ultra Built Construction, Bianco Precast and Load 28.

As part of the Fly The Flag initiative, LED screens mounted on the tower crane overlooking the Lot 51 project displayed MATES in Construction messaging across the Adelaide skyline, helping raise awareness of mental health and the support available to those who may be struggling.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, particularly Neil Burford for facilitating the day. Events such as these play an important role in breaking down stigma, encouraging conversations, and reminding people that support is always available.

We are celebrating another successful award win with our NSW and ACT teams taking home awards at the National AIB Professional Excellence Awards over the weekend in Canberra.

These achievements recognise the projects long-term benefits to the wider communities and Hindmarsh’s capability across the Industrial and Government sectors. Stockland Momenta Banksmeadow is now an operational multi-storey facility housing major retailers for logistics and freight. AWM Bean Building Extension and Central Energy Plant is the latest modernisation of the iconic Australian War Memorial, continuing the remembrance of Australia’s involvement in both World War I and II, for generations to come.

A huge congratulations to our South Australian team, who recently attended the AIB South Australian Building Professional Excellence Awards and took home the award for Commercial Construction ($25M - $60M) for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Mental Health Rehabilitation Service project.

This outstanding facility provides a purpose-built rehabilitation environment, supporting mental health recovery and delivering lasting benefits to the South Australian community. This award win has also secured our place at the AIB National Professional Excellence Awards later this month in Canberra, where the project will be recognised.

This achievement reflects the dedication, collaboration and expertise of everyone involved in bringing this important healthcare project to life.

An outstanding achievement for our team at the 2026 NSW Australian Institute of Building (AIB) Professional Excellence in Building Awards, receiving the Commercial Construction $60 Million + category award for Stockland Momenta Banksmeadow.

The evening was hosted by the NSW Chapter of the Australian Institute of Building as part of its 75th anniversary celebrations. The awards recognise excellence, leadership and professionalism across the building and construction industry. It was a fantastic evening celebrating this achievement alongside industry peers and partners, securing our place at the National Professional Excellence Awards next month in Canberra.

Recently, the HammondCare and Hindmarsh teams came together to celebrate the commencement of construction with a traditional Sod Turn ceremony at the Greenwich site.

Andrew Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer at HammondCare and Rowan Hindmarsh, Chief Executive Officer at Hindmarsh, respectively spoke about our partnership and transforming the existing Greenwich Hospital into a state-of-the-art integrated health campus for the care of older people with complex health needs.

Facilities of the new health campus will include a brand-new health and care building, residential aged care accommodation, seniors living apartments and respite care facilities.
