Real estate agents: 1 July is 12 days away. Here’s what that actually means for your agency.

From 1 July 2026, agents become reporting entities under the AML/CTF Act. New obligations come with that - client verification, risk assessment, record-keeping, and an AML/CTF Program your agency needs to have in place.

There’s also a 28-day window after commencement to enrol with AUSTRAC. That closes 29 July.

None of this needs to be overwhelming. There are practical tools in the legislation designed to help - particularly for agencies that work alongside a conveyancer. And the earlier you understand your position, the more straightforward the path forward becomes.

Do I need to be there on settlement day? Usually: no.

Settlement in Queensland is handled electronically. Your conveyancing team sorts the figures, the banks transfer the funds, title changes hands, all while you are getting on with your day. You just need to be reachable by phone. Then we call. You celebrate. Done.
