We make our quirky cabin in the garden available to budget travellers. Please see the webpage for rates and booking instructions. Do not try to book via messages on this page - this is an information age only! The cabin is equipped with a queen bed with a good mattress. Plus a table & 2 chairs, bar fridge, jug & toaster, small microwave, 2 electric hotplates, and crockery, cutlery and cooking uten

sils. There are a few basic things like tea, coffee, and we supply small sachets of long life milk, if you're hanging out for a cuppa when you arrive. There is an ensuite - but you have to go out the front & down some steps!. (No, we didn't build it that way, here when we bought house.) There is an outside nightlight for trips in the dark! And the bathroom has a Tastic style heatlamp. It is on a self catering and on a 'please leave it tidy and fairly clean' basis. We cannot keep the price down if we have to do extensive cleaning. We are at Glenorchy, there are good take away shops and 2 supermarkets, Big W and many smaller stores. Central to major attractions at just 10-15 minutes to Hobart and 5 mins from MONA. Note the cabin is BUDGET ACCOMMODATION - it's cosy, warm and comfortable but there are no luxuries! The attached ensuite style bathroom (shower, basin toilet) has a heater lamp but you have to go OUTSIDE and down 3 steps to access it. There is a light for night calls. Email us at [email protected]

This winter, shelters across Hungary decided to take meaningful action to save stray and abandoned dogs from the harsh cold. They created innovative solar-heated tunnels designed to collect warmth all day and slowly release it overnight, forming safe, warm pockets where dogs can finally rest without the fear of freezing.

For many homeless dogs, this simple invention is life-changing. Volunteers hope this groundbreaking idea will spread to other cold regions. It’s a powerful reminder that compassion does not always require complexity; sometimes, it’s as simple as giving a vulnerable animal a warm place to make it through the night.

Another photo of the gorgeous King we lost last week. He was trying to nap while one of his cubs was using him as a jungle gym. Dad was firm but gentle that he was not in the mood. Look at the size of that paw?? A sad loss. His brother is now on his own to look after the pride. If you missed the earlier post, check below.
