A great showing at the NZIV Valuation Conference 2026.

As a Bronze Sponsor, Opteon enjoyed connecting with valuers across Aotearoa. Strong conversations, great energy at the stand, and plenty of spins on the prize wheel.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by.

With thanks to the team on the ground, including Avella Taylor, Nikky Waaka, Paul McCorry, Michael Hall, Kris Vulinovich, Hoa Quan and Monique Browne.

Proud to see Chris Crouch, Associate Director from our Shepparton team share his insights in The Shepparton Adviser on the Goulburn Valley residential property market.

The region has moved into a more measured expansion phase, supported by relative affordability, tight rental supply and steady demand across entry to mid-tier markets. While economic headwinds remain, local fundamentals continue to underpin moderate, sustainable growth.

There’s been a lot of discussion following the Federal Budget changes, particularly around investors.

From a valuation perspective, the focus is slightly different.

What matters most is how these changes influence:

• Buyer behaviour
• Demand across different property types
• And ultimately, how value is formed in specific markets

That impact is unlikely to be uniform. It tends to show up differently depending on location, property type, and buyer mix.

June is Pride Month, and at Opteon it’s a moment to reaffirm what matters to us year‑round: safe, respectful and professional workplaces.

When people feel safe, teams collaborate better, decisions improve and outcomes are stronger for clients.

Our focus is simple: professionalism, respect and integrity in how we show up, communicate and make decisions, every day.

Recent commentary from our National Director, Commercial, Dan Hill highlights a key point often missed in the CGT conversation.

“But the CGT story is more nuanced than the headlines suggest, and that nuance matters particularly for clients holding commercial assets in personal or trust structures.”

While commercial property retains some advantages, it is not exempt from change.

“Unlike residential property, where new builds retain the choice of the existing 50 per cent CGT discount or the new indexation regime, commercial property has no equivalent concession.”

As 30 June approaches, the focus turns to getting the fundamentals right.

“This year’s 30 June 2026 valuation carries additional weight for two compounding reasons.”

Reconciliation is a journey, and at Opteon, it’s one we’re committed to taking together.

Over the past 12 months, we’ve taken some important steps to embed reconciliation across our business - establishing our RAP Working Group, listening to our people through our RAP survey, delivering cultural learning for our leaders, and working with educators to learn and listen.

Our Reflect RAP is progressing through its second review, cultural learning will soon be rolled out across all teams, and we’re working closely with community and partners to shape what comes next.

This is about more than a plan. It’s about how we show up, learn, and take action.

As we mark National Reconciliation Week 2026, we’re proud of the progress so far, and focused on what comes next.
