Big news for Melbourne's western growth corridor.

The Melton East Precinct Structure Plan has been officially gazetted — unlocking one of the most significant new precincts in Melbourne's north-west.

Developed in partnership with Melton City Council, Melton East will deliver:

✅ ~12,000 new homes
✅ ~1,600 new local jobs
✅ Seven schools and more than five MCGs' worth of parks and reserves
✅ New arterial roads, intersections and community hubs

Spanning roughly 1,005 hectares about 35km from the CBD and adjoining the established Melton township, the precinct is set to become home to more than 36,000 residents — and with the plan gazetted, permit pathways are now open for developers to move forward.

A new suburb for Melbourne's west — Melton East gets the green light

The Victorian Government has formally approved the Melton East Precinct Structure Plan — the master plan for an entirely new community east of Melton, centred on the future locality of Grangefields.

Once complete, the precinct will be home to more than 37,000 residents, with:

Close to 12,000 new homes
Seven new schools
Parks and reserves equal to five MCGs
New roads, bridges and walking and cycling links
Around 1,600 local jobs

For landowners in and around the growth corridor, an approved PSP is a major milestone. It locks in the framework for how the area will develop — and brings real clarity on what's ahead for the land around you.
