The real-world asset conversation has reached a turning point.

For years, tokenisation was discussed as an emerging application of blockchain technology. In 2026, that description no longer captures what is happening.

The market is beginning to look less like a collection of experiments and more like an emerging layer of global financial infrastructure.

The evidence is becoming difficult to ignore:

• US$38.66 billion in distributed asset value
• US$264.86 billion in represented asset value
• 3.17 million asset holders
• US$302.70 billion in stablecoin value

But the significance of these figures goes beyond market size.

Tokenisation is expanding across government securities, institutional funds, private credit, commodities, property, equities and alternative assets. At the same time, major financial institutions are developing the settlement systems, digital deposits and blockchain infrastructure needed to support these markets.

The next challenge is no longer proving that real-world assets can move on-chain.

It is building the compliant, scalable infrastructure required for them to operate across markets.
