As from next week we are starting to deliver the DHA homes to their new owners.

The first house we’re delivering is to a lucky first home owner in Townsville.

FACT:

✨ Most of these homes have sold to first home owners.

✨ Sold locally to Townsville residents. We’re focused on supplying homes into shires with progressive Councils. The Burdekin Shire is among the worst, Hinchinbrook is second. We are not having any issues with any other Councils.

✨ These homes are not FULL of asbestos. They do contain some B class non friable asbestos but they are most certainly not FULL of it.

✨ These homes have not been destroyed.

✨ Only a couple of homes are heading west. Not all of them.

✨ These homes were owned by DHA. Renewable Homes purchased all 68 houses for resale thus removal. The site is still owned by DHA and will be developed for new housing for DHA. Not First Nations. Not Muslims.

For the homes that have not sold, we’re shifting 2 per week into our storage yard. This will make it easier to arrange inspections. As it stands now, the site is considered a construction zone and strict WH&S rules apply.

Busy week for our team. We delivered Blueberry Cottage after sitting in our storage facility waiting for building approvals. You might remember this cottage, sat on Fulham Rd since the 1930s across the road from the bakery. Qbuild tendered it to be demolished.

Crazy. But, lucky we stepped in.

Also this week, we started to roll out the removal of 68 Defence homes with the first two safely arriving at our storage facility. A special thank you to our QPS (Hutchy, Nivo and Paul) and industry escorts ( Phil, Anthony and Joe). You may have witnessed the two 11 meter loads travelling together on Thursday night. These homes can be viewed by making an appointment - 4778 4019.

Lastly, practicing what we preach (saving our historic iconic architecture from landfill) our latest project, transported into Townsville by bullock, an 1870s Miner’s accommodation - Bonnie Cottage, has received new window frames with restored casements and sash windows, cladding, wiring along with new bearers, joists and some floor boards. What was supposed to be a renovation turned into a restoration project. We certainly empathise with everyone in the same position. 😅 Bonnie will be heading to Magnetic Island very shortly 🚢 🏠

Congratulations to our crews who make this all happen. Because of your commitment to stay on track with the heavy work load we’re able to continue saving perfectly good houses from landfill, continue with our own projects and take on the big contracts 🤩

The cost of building brand new is out of reach for a lot of Australians. In Townsville, our repeat clients were quoted over $3000 per square metre. They only wanted an extra 100sqm of bedroom spaces and were looking down the barrel at $300k 😳

So, they purchased a house from us, received a bigger house and after some light renovations (new wiring, plumbing etc), additional deck to connect the two homes will come in at $1670 per sqm.

One of this weeks delivery was easy, reinstated and re-stumped within a couple of days right next to another cottage we delivered a few years ago.

The 3 Bedroom houses are going under contract between $120k - $160k. The 4 bedroom homes are going under contract between $160k to $190k. Please refer to our website to see which ones are no longer available for sale.
They do contain asbestos in the eaves, gable ends. Majority are weatherboard exterior and masonite interior. So, bu**er all basically. Only a handful have asbestos sheeting on the outside. We have full asbestos reports available should you be interested.
