🏡 Buying property with someone else? Transfer duty may not be the same for every purchaser.

The Queensland Revenue Office (QRO) can assess each buyer's eligibility separately, which may affect the amount of duty payable.

For example:

✅ A first home buyer who meets the eligibility requirements may receive the First Home Concession on their share of the property.

❌ A co-purchaser who has previously owned property may not qualify and could pay transfer duty at the standard rate on their share.

Key point:

• Transfer duty can sometimes be split based on each purchaser's eligibility.
• Co-purchasers are not always treated the same for duty purposes.
• Individual circumstances can impact the final duty assessment.

There are also situations where transfer duty may be reduced or exempt, including certain:

• Deceased estate transfers
• Matrimonial or de facto relationship transfers
• Transactions involving eligible charitable institutions
• Trust arrangements that qualify under the Duties Act

Always seek professional advice to understand your eligibility and potential duty concessions.
