With fresh numbers on inflation, housing, and trade in play, we’re keeping a close watch—not just on what’s happening right now, but on how it shapes our local market’s path. Early Q3 readings on inflation and home sales are fueling debate on whether the Bank of Canada will hike rates again or hold steady through 2027. For buyers and sellers here in the Valley, that policy direction can make a real difference in affordability and timing.

Notably, a major real estate group has revised its 2026 outlook, now anticipating national sales to edge lower this year, rather than see the modest growth previously expected. That’s a key signal for those weighing their next move—especially in a market where timing and local insight matter.

On the trade front, a looming mid-Q3 deadline could see nearly US$20B of Canadian exports facing up to 50% US tariffs unless negotiations break through some tough sticking points. While this feels distant, these global pressures can ripple down to local construction, jobs, and confidence.
