“Our housing market has weathered a lot of economic uncertainty over the past year, but we’re beginning to see those challenges have a greater influence on buyer confidence,” said Jason Yochim, VIREB Chief Executive Officer.

Yochim noted that the VIREB area has moved into buyer’s market territory, giving purchasers plenty of choice. He added that while benchmark prices have remained relatively flat across most markets, sellers who price competitively continue to have the greatest success.

Here are some home maintenance tasks that will help your home's systems run efficiently in the colder months:

-Do a deep clean of your dryer vent.
-Vacuum and wipe down the coils on the back of your refrigerator.
-Change or clean the filters in your dishwasher, refrigerator, and range hood.
-Vacuum vents and clean out the ducts.
-Replace old air filters (at least every other month).
-Replace weatherstripping to reduce drafts.
-Test your thermostat.
-Flush the water heater.
-Check for leaks by examining walls, ceilings, cabinets, and pipes.
-If you have sprinklers, test the water pressure.
-Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and replace the batteries if necessary.
