🏠 Is Canada's housing market actually worse than 2008 and the 1990s crash?

You've probably seen that headline — and depending on how you measure the correction, there is some truth behind it.

But the newest numbers also show something important: the market is beginning to stabilize.

A historic correction doesn't necessarily mean we're in the middle of a historic collapse.

There's a BIG difference.

What are you seeing in the market right now? 👇

🚨 502 new rental homes are coming to downtown Oshawa.

The federal government announced $188 MILLION in financing today for The Foundry District at 135 Bruce Street.

More housing supply is coming — but will it actually make renting in Durham more affordable?

What do you think? 👇

Canada and the U.S. may have avoided another major tariff hit — for now. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

The proposed 50% tariffs have been delayed for three days while both sides work toward finalizing a deal, with the auto sector still a major sticking point.

For Ontario, this matters. Jobs, manufacturing, investment and consumer confidence are all tied to what happens next.

The deal isn’t done yet — now we see what the next three days bring.

Two housing reports. Two very different signals. 👀

Resale activity is starting to improve while new housing construction is slowing.

That combination could make supply a much bigger conversation again.

Canada’s inflation rate just climbed back to 3% — but the headline doesn’t tell the whole story. 🇨🇦

A big part of the increase came from gasoline prices, while inflation excluding gas remained much more stable.

So does this mean rate hikes are coming back? Not necessarily.

All eyes are now on the Bank of Canada’s next rate decision on September 2nd.

AI could actually make borrowing more expensive. 🤖💰

Massive AI spending is putting pressure on bond yields — and that matters because fixed mortgage rates are tied closely to them.

So even if the Bank of Canada cuts, fixed rates may not drop as much as people expect.

A new report says the average Canadian family paid $50,721 in taxes — more than they spent on housing, food and clothing combined.

Taxes are necessary. But when Canadians are paying this much, it’s fair to ask:

Are we actually getting our money’s worth?

July’s GTA numbers tell a pretty interesting story.

Sales were basically flat year-over-year, but new listings dropped nearly 18% and active inventory fell more than 12%.

Prices are still softer, but with fewer homes hitting the market, the balance could start changing heading into the fall. 👀🏡

More than half of TRREB agents completed zero transactions in 2025.

And nearly 90% completed four or fewer deals.

In a challenging market, having a real estate licence is not the same as actively selling real estate.

Experience, strategy, and recent negotiation matter more than ever.
