Okay one last security story.
Big arena. Front of the stage. Crowd packed tight and buzzing.
I was working security right in the pit between the stage and the barrier at a rock show for Marianas Trench. My job was to follow the lead singers main security guard and help him. This singer made me work!
You will remember their hit song Desperate Measures or Fallout.

Mid-show, the lead singer comes down off the stage and stands right on the crowd barrier, feeding off the energy. The fans go wild. In the middle of it, his main security leans over to me and says, completely serious: “Grab his leg and don’t let go.”
Next thing I know, he launches into the crowd and crowd surfs across a sea of hands, still singing like nothing’s happening. I’ve got a firm hold of his leg, getting pulled forward as the crowd moves him through the arena.
It’s controlled chaos—loud, fast, and a little unreal—but somehow it all works. Song finishes, momentum slows, and I’m able to guide him safely back toward the stage without losing grip once.

He then decides to go into the stands and sing. My job is to hold back the 100's of screaming teens with sharp nails and a mind that has lost all common sense.

One of those moments where your job description suddenly becomes very simple: "don’t let go".

Another story from my concert security days... 😂
Before real estate really took off, I worked part-time as concert security. One of my jobs was helping with backstage meet-and-greets, making sure excited fans gave the artists a little space. It was very entertaining seeing how people react being near these celebrities. Their mind and body completely malfunction.

One day I was working a meet-and-greet with Taylor Swift. Yes THE Taylor Shift. She's shorter than I expected... anyway!

It was a small backstage room in the old Rexall Place arena, and I was standing between Taylor and the line of excited fans. Everything was going smoothly... until she walked past me.

Trying to be professional, I stepped aside to give her room. Like a gentleman...
Unfortunately, It is a small room and I forgot there was a TV mounted on the wall right beside my head.

**BONK.**

I walked straight into the TV.
The room went silent for about half a second... then the fans burst out laughing.
Meanwhile, Taylor looked genuinely concerned, probably wondering if she'd just witnessed one of her security guard knock himself unconscious.
Thankfully, my ego took a bigger hit than my head.
Safe to say, that wasn't my smoothest moment on the job. 😂

Not every good story comes from real estate... 😂

Back when I was in my first year as a REALTOR®, the clients weren't exactly rolling in yet. To help pay the bills, I picked up a part-time job working concert security. My cousin owned the security company, so I ended up working some pretty incredible shows—front of stage, backstage, meet-and-greets... it was a job I'll never forget.

One of my favourite stories happened at a Justin Bieber concert.

I was working security at the very front of the stage at the old Rexall arena. The stage was so high that the edge of it was basically level with my head. In front of me? Thousands of screaming Bieber fans. Behind me? Justin Bieber performing.
Everything was going great... until Justin started dancing.

Out of nowhere... BAM! He accidentally kicked me right in the side of the head.
As if that wasn't enough, his hat flew off at the exact same time and landed right in front of me.

So not only did I get kicked in the head by Justin Bieber... I also walked away with his hat.

That hat ended up becoming a pretty awesome souvenir for my niece, so I guess getting kicked in the head wasn't a total loss. 😂

Definitely not something they covered in security training.

🎬 **TWISTERS: THE MARKET** 🌪️🏡

This one hits a little closer to home for us here in Edmonton.

It's been a tough summer for so many homeowners dealing with flooded basements, hail damage, windstorms, with this record amount of rain. My thoughts are with everyone who's had to spend their summer cleaning up instead of enjoying it.

On a lighter note... I think it's safe to say this weather has been giving REALTORS® a run for our money too. Between the wind, the rain, and the soaked ground, keeping a FOR SALE sign standing upright has become its own extreme sport. 😅

My first year in real estate, I was still figuring out what I was doing with social media and how to actually stand out.

And in the back of my mind I kept thinking—how cool would it be to work with hockey players? The Edmonton Oilers needed homes too, right? They were moving to Edmonton just like everyone else.

At the time, Twitter was the place. I remember seeing a post that a new Oiler had just signed a contract in Edmonton. That was Mark Arcobello, I figured I’d give it a shot.
So I dropped what was probably my one and only carefully crafted tweet:

“Hey! if you need a house ”

Yes… inspired by the big radio hit at the time- Call me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen
I didn’t think much of it after that.

Until later that night—my phone lit up with a private message asking to set up showings.

And just like that… the “Oiler realtor” chapter quietly began.
