It’s been nearly a week since we lost Rebecca, and I’m still trying to understand how to even put this into words.

I feel everything all at once — deep sadness, anger, fear, gratitude — and none of it makes sense. I keep asking why. Why did this have to happen to someone like her? One of the most genuinely beautiful, kind, and loving people I’ve ever known. It doesn’t feel fair, and I don’t know if it ever will.

Watching cancer take her down in her final days is something I will never unsee. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. And now there’s this fear that lingers… that something like this could happen again, to someone else I love, at any time.

I’ve never lost a friend before. I don’t know how to grieve this. I don’t know what I’m “supposed” to feel or say or do. Some moments I feel completely lost in it.

But what I do know is this — knowing Rebecca was one of the greatest gifts of my life.

I am so incredibly grateful to the person who brought us together a few years ago. Because of that, I got to experience her friendship, her warmth, her laugh, her light. To know Rebecca was to love her. Truly.

I will carry her with me always, and I will miss her every single day.
