🍁 LAST CALL FOR FALL COLOURS? Many parks across Central Ontario are now at or past their peak!
With Thanksgiving weekend behind us, we're starting to see some big changes in Ontario's fall colours! Many parks across Central Ontario are now at their peak, while others are already moving past their best viewing period as leaf fall continues to increase.
And with today's rain, we could see even more leaves coming down, potentially bringing the fall colour season to an end in some areas!

So, where are the best colours right now?
According to the latest available Ontario Parks reports, Arrowhead Provincial Park and Oxtongue River-Ragged Falls are among the top spots, both sitting at an impressive IW Fall Colour Score of 88 out of 100!
Both parks are reporting 100% colour change, although leaf fall has already reached 40%. That means there's still some fantastic colour to enjoy based on those reports, but the clock is ticking!
Awenda Provincial Park, near Georgian Bay, is another promising option with a score of 85, while Samuel de Champlain near Mattawa is sitting at 82.
Killarney is also looking beautiful with a score of 78, while Silent Lake, Lake St. Peter and Mono Cliffs are all showing excellent viewing conditions in their latest reports.
⚠️ However, there's something VERY important to keep in mind before planning your fall colour adventure! ⚠️
Some of these reports are now almost FIVE DAYS OLD, meaning the actual conditions could be quite different from what our tracker currently shows!
With leaf fall already increasing across Central Ontario, it's entirely possible that some parks showing peak colours on our map have already moved past their peak viewing period.
Today's rainfall could make things even worse by knocking more leaves off the trees. Unfortunately, that means some of the beautiful colours shown in the latest reports may already be disappearing!
We're also seeing clear signs that some of Ontario's most popular fall colour destinations are moving past their peak.
Algonquin Provincial Park is a perfect example. While the park has reached 100% colour change, leaf fall has climbed to 50% in its latest report, bringing its IW Fall Colour Score down to 77.
That means roughly half of the leaves have already fallen, and while there's still colour to enjoy, the best viewing period appears to be behind us.
Bon Echo is also showing signs of being past peak, while other parks could quickly follow as more leaves come down over the coming days.
For those closer to the GTA, there's still some good news! 🍂
Mono Cliffs and Earl Rowe are both sitting at a score of 76, with their latest reports showing 70% colour change and only 10% leaf fall. These could still be some great options if you're hoping to squeeze in a fall colour outing without travelling too far north!
However, just like the parks farther north, these reports may not reflect the current conditions, especially after today's rain.

Our dashboard also shows when each park last reported, so you can see how fresh the information is before making the trip. Parks with reports more than five days old are marked in grey on our map and excluded from the colour zones.
**IMPORTANT REMINDER: Some Ontario provincial parks have already CLOSED for the season, while others may have reduced services or limited access.**
Before heading out, please confirm that your chosen park is still open to visitors! Just because a park is showing great colours on our tracker doesn't necessarily mean it's still open for the season.
Remember, our tracker relies on reports from Ontario Parks, which aren't updated daily for every location. At this point in the season, even a few days can make a big difference as more leaves fall from the trees.
