What an exciting time to be an Atlantic Canadian! As we head into a period of change and uncertainty, it’s inspiring to see the opportunities emerging through that and the federal government directing energy where it’s needed most.

Yesterday’s announcement of a $3 billion federal investment into our region’s military expansion is a transformative moment for Atlantic Canada. And this investment trickles into alll industries, from manufacturing and construction to housing and agriculture, with Halifax positioned to become the location for long-term investment.

I attended the Halifax Chamber of Commerce conversation with Mark Carney this morning, where he spoke to the future of our energy sector. Nova Scotia is ready to join provinces like Alberta on the national energy stage through wind, oil, and natural gas.

The next decade presents an unprecedented opportunity for Nova Scotia to shine as one of Canada’s most promising investment landscapes. The future here feels bright and it’s just beginning. We recently had the privilege of working with Student Housing Nova Scotia (SHNS) on their latest acquisition of a 35‑unit portfolio in Kingston, NS, that will help provide more stable, affordable housing options for students in the Annapolis Valley. We’re truly inspired by the way SHNS is stepping up for students across the province, and it was a pleasure to support their team in bringing this deal together.

Projects like this are a reminder of what’s possible when non‑profits, government, and the private sector all work in the same direction. Preserving and improving existing rental housing is a key part of tackling Nova Scotia’s housing challenges, and we’re grateful to have played a small part in that work.
