June is National Indigenous History Month.
Here in Kelowna, we live and work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) People.
This month is an opportunity to learn more about the histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and MΓ©tis Peoples across Canada.
Did you know? National Indigenous History Month has been recognized nationally since 2009 and was renamed in 2017 to better reflect Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
Whether it's learning about the history of the land we call home, exploring Indigenous-led resources, or attending local cultural events, every step toward understanding helps strengthen our community.
