Statistics Canada confirmed Canada’s economy contracted for the second consecutive quarter on an annualized basis.

Two consecutive quarters of contraction.

That is the definition of a technical recession. πŸ“‰

The last time Canada was here?

The start of the pandemic. 2020.

Before that?

The oil shock of 2015.

Now here is the part that matters for real estate in the Lower Mainland specifically. πŸ‘‡

Business capital investment has fallen for five consecutive quarters. πŸ“Š

Government spending dropped sharply in Q1.

The trade war β€” and the energy shock from the Iran conflict β€” are the primary drivers.
